Currency Calculator
Why you enter the rate yourself
Published exchange rates change by the second and differ between banks, cards, and transfer services. Instead of freezing one possibly stale figure, this calculator multiplies your amount by any rate you provide. Search for the pair (for example "USD to EUR") on a live source, type the rate in, and the conversion updates. Because the math is a simple multiplication, it also works for currencies not in the list — just pick "Other".
The spread: why real conversions cost more
The mid-market rate you find online is a midpoint between what buyers bid and sellers ask. Card networks and banks apply a margin on top, typically one to three percent, and some add flat fees. When budgeting a trip, pad your converted totals by that spread to avoid surprises on the statement.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where do I find the current rate?
Any financial news site, your card issuer’s app, or a currency-rate publisher will show live mid-market rates. Copy that number into the rate field; the reverse-rate row shows the inverse automatically.
Does this calculator need an internet connection?
No. All the math happens locally once you supply a rate, so it keeps working in airplane mode — handy for checking prices while traveling.
